Last Updated: February 19, 2025

Welcome to Norwegian.app, operated by Jenssen Teknodugnad ENK ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you use our web application to practice your Norwegian language skills.

1. Information We Collect

Personal Information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and simple onboarding preferences. Additionally, your conversations with our custom AI model are stored, along with your preferences.

Voice Input: When you speak into the microphone, your voice is immediately transcribed to text for the conversation. Please note that voice files are not saved—they are used only during the transcription process.

Local Storage: We use local storage to save your microphone preferences (e.g., which microphone to use).

Analytics: We use PostHog on a GDPR-compliant EU server to collect usage analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your personal data, including email addresses, user preferences, and conversations, is stored in a European Supabase PostgreSQL database. We use this data to:

  • Provide and improve our Service
  • Personalize your user experience
  • Analyze usage and improve our platform through PostHog analytics
  • Handle authentication via Clerk and manage subscriptions via Stripe

3. Data Storage and Deletion

All your data, including conversations, user preferences, and email, is stored securely. You can delete your account at any time, which will result in the deletion of your stored data (excluding payment history retained by Stripe for billing and accounting purposes).

4. Third-Party Services

We use several third-party services to provide our Service:

  • Clerk: For authentication and user management.
  • Stripe: For managing subscriptions and processing payments.
  • PostHog: For analytics on a GDPR-compliant EU server.
  • Supabase: For hosting our PostgreSQL database.
